For almost two decades, Toyota's Camry has been at the top of the hill in the mid-sized segment. This is no surprise even though its closest rivals' boast better drivetrain and engine refinement, thanks to Toyota's bulletproof reputation for quality as well as reliability. Whereas most Camrys sold are the 2.0litre variants, I had the opportunity to taste its latest flagship 2.5V will full list of bells and whistles.
In a glance, it would seem that designers went down the same route as what Honda did with their eighth generation Accord; a brash chromed grille, sharpened lamp clusters, chiseled front and rear overhangs matched with plenty of straight creases on the sides. This made it a lot more masculine and dynamic than its softer elegant-themed predecessor. But if you thought it still lacked testosterone, there is an optional body kit comprised of a 4-piece skirting, a slim duck-tail boot spoiler with Daytime Running Light, DRL to really pimp it up.
Moving on towards the cabin, anyone used to Japanese mid-sized sedans will be very much at home with its tasteful blend of dark grey, beige, rich woodgrain, and metal-like panels matched by top-notch quality fittings. Its darker hues also add a bit of sportiness unlike those skin-toned materials used in the past. With new appearance comes an additional 15mm of back space due to the restyled dashboard, more forward-placed foot controls and front seats, matched by rear cushions which have their hip points tucked in.
