COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE AND ARGANIZATION
SUBJECT : COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE AND ARGANIZATION
Exam Tips : Part 1 (Objective)
1. Definition computer architecture (refer book page 1- 6)
Computer architecture refers to the attribute that are visible to the programmer (user) and attribute that have a direct impact on the logical execution of a program.
Definition Computer Organization
Computer organization refers to the operational units and their interconnections to realize the architectural specifications. Organization attributes include hardware details that are transparent to the programmer such as Control signals, Interface units & Memory technology.
Definition Function of a computer System.
Functions here refer to the operations that are performed by each individual component. There are 4 basic computer system performs:
Data Processing
Data Storage
Data Movement
Control
2. System bus.
Hypothetical Example – The Fetch and execute
Refer to slide # 25 – 27 Chapter 3. Explain the steps.
3. RAID Concept – ( Refer book page 33 )
RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) is a standardized scheme for multiple disk design. If arrays of disk operate independently and in parallel, separate I/O request can be handle simultaneously. A single I/O request can be execute in parallel if data is distributed in multiple disk. Redundancy can be added to improve reliability.
4. Multiplication of 2’s compliment ( Refer book page 45 )
Straight forward multiplication will not work for 2’s compliment if either the multiplication of the multiplier or both are negative.
Part II (Subjective)
I. 1. Main memory – What is main memory. ( Refer Book page 17)
Operations on data required access to more than an element at a time. Data and instructions are required to be stored temporarily awaiting process. This temporary storage is the main memory.
2. Different of Static and Dynamic RAM (Refer Book page 27)
Static RAM – can hold its data for as long as power is supplied. It uses flip-flop logic gate configuration.
Dynamic RAM - Required periodic refresh signal to maintain its data. It uses charged capacitors to store data
Static RAMs somewhat faster than dynamic RAMs.
3. State 2 memory failure :
I. Hard failure – permanent physical defect. Memory cells can no longer store data.
II. Soft errors – Random, nondestructive event that alters the contents of the cells

RAID 1 - Each logical strip is mapped to two separate physical disks so that every disk in the array has a mirror disk that contains the same data.

28/4/2007 Lawatan ke Perlis@Padang Besar
malam sblm tu siap pasang alarm pukul 5.00pg..konon nak prepare makan utk anak pasal nak tinggal diorang 1 hari..sedar sedar pukul 6.10...apalagi macam tropedo ler kita orang bergerak..mandi koboi jer..6.30 semua siap dan terus pegi depan arisun..sampai kat sana bas dah tunggu..ingatkan kita yg lambat.. hampeh ada lagi yang lambat..kamipunya nya kelam kabut.
Perjalanan: singgah gurun minum pagi RM10.00..pastu pegi muzium padi..cantik lukisan yg depa buat tu perpusing2. Tanya petugas kat situ..harga lukisan saja RM11 juta dan dilukis oleh org korea(org malaysia tak panda lukis kut..heheh)
Pastu apalagi acara utama ler...padang besar..sampai2 terus pegi makan..nak rasa ler tomyam depa kata sedap...mmmhhh sama ja ngan bagan serai..mahai pulak tu 2 org makan rm30..cuma makan tomyam,telur dadar dan yg spesel sikit udang goreng tepong..pastu pegi la shopping..ingat kan murah sangat la..lebih kurang ngan bagan serai ja..kalau saja2 nak pi belibaik tak payah..duit minyak pun taklepas..tak beli apa ler jawab nya
Kat situ sampai pukul 3 ja..sampai 2.30 aku pi sembahyang jap..janji ngan bini aku tunggu kat bas. elok habis sembahyang aku pi kat bas tapi anak ngan bini aku tak sampai lag..org lain semua dok tunggu..aku keluar pulak pi cari..at last bini aku sampai dulu kat bas aku masih lagi tercari2
Balikdepa singgah kat taman rekreasi tapi nak buat apa masa tu hujan..pas tu pegi taman ular la konon tapi sampai dah pukul 5.00 ptg tempat tu dah tutup..tak tau nak buat apa kami terus pi Kangar ronda2 kat pekan.
Pukul 8.00mlm pi jamuan yg disediakan oleh pihak RT padang assam. dapat ler cenderahati buah pelam harummanis. Pukul 9.30mlm cabut balik ke bagan serai. Sampai pukul 12.30 tgh malam..

Last Day 27/8/2007
Pagi ni bangun dengan penuh semangat sekali..maklum ler last day...mlm tadi lepak di RJ borak borak sambil mengacau budak indon tu..bukan sorang sorang tapi ramai2..tabik betul dengan depa ni..bersusah payah kerja siang dan malam demi untuk keluarga di kampung. Bila kenangkan balik kami ni dah ler makan smpai 6X sehari tapi masih nak komplain tak sedap lah dan mcm2..
- JJ datang tengok aku punya blog..dia komen sikit pasal mee jadi merah...refer dlm posting terdahulu 4 april yg lalu..mee tu jadi merah pasal terlebih asid borik yg dimasukkan oleh kilang dlm mee tu...ooo gitu ker
- booth Algorithm-hampeh tak paham satu benda pun..harap harap balik nanti boleh buat ulangkaji...

Tiba cekgu cakap petang ni ada sambungan sikit..alamak punya la frust..kunci daha hantar.Kita orang pun pujuk ler En Fairoz untuk dapat pelepasan pasal kita orang jauh ..Kedah beb. masih tak dak jawapan dan Fairoz ajak kita orang makan..aku ikut jer lagi pun dia ni kawan Wahid..Sampai kat kedai dia belanja...rupanya dia saja nak mainkan kita orang..kami dilepaskan. Lepas makan terus cabut..sampai Tol Kamunting pukul 4.00ptg. Tggu bini amik sampai rumah 5.30ptg.

Hari 4 Khamis
Dah lama tak posting...
hari ni hari ke 4 khamis...tghari tadi ada test...alamak punya la susah..almaklumlah nota semua dlm BI..aku ni paham tu dah la sikit sikit pastu exam kena buat essay lak...kantoi. Malam tadi study sampai pkl 2 pg tapi yg keluar yg lain...ada lah sikit2 yg kuar.
Petang sampai pukul 2.30ptg jer pas tu balik hostel tapi boring...pasal tu mai lab...apa lagi surfing ler jwb nya...
Lupakan lah cerita tu..benda yg lepas jangan dikenang..ni cerita mlm tadi
Sblum start study kita orang pegi Putra Jaya kat depan pejabat PM tu..cantik rupanya waktu malam...org pun ramai..gi ambil gambar dengan kami punya cameraman(peminat fotoghrapy)..sempat la posing 3,4 keping gambar... boleh tengok gamabar nya kat link

Computer Architecture and Organization

Bertolak dr Bgn Serai ngan bas Konsortium. Buat kali ketiga ada masaalah walaupun aku tidak secara langsung mengenai aku. Yg mula mula dulu org lebih aku kena tidur kat belakang tempat pemandu gantian.Yg kedua jalan jem dan pemandu gantian tak ada. Driver tu ugut tauke kalau tak ada drevar ganti dia tak mau jalan..memang tak salahkan dia 6 hari jalan sorang2.
Kali ni citer nya mcm ni..
No tiket aku 14..bila aku masuk dlm bas seat aku memang kosong sblh ibu muda bersama bayinya yg masih kecil. Dia duduk sebelah luar dan aku mintak lalu utk duduk kat sblh dalam, tapi dia mintak aku tukar ngan adek dia yg duduk kat depan tapi adik dia tak mau tukar. Rupanya tempat yg dia duduk kat depan tu tempat org..mungkin dia yg tak ada tiket. Pastu naik srg pompuan nak ambil seat dia (tmpat adek ibu muda)..terus driver suruh aku duduk tempat pompuan tu dan dia amik sblh ibu muda tu dan adek tu kena duduk atas lantai..lapik ngan sofa kecik tanpa penyandar...kesian aku tengok tapi nak buat apa aku pun ada hak keatas tempat aku..dlm hati aku kata kalau lepas ni drebar tu suruh aku tukar ganti ngan budak tu aku terus turun dan amik plet number bas tu..pastu tel Fauzi(member sekursus) amik aku.
Drebar tu memang bawak laju...pukul 5 ptg dah sampai kajang..biasanya aku sampai pukul 6 ptg..agaknya dah tau buat salah bagi budak tu duduk atas lantai. Aku org yg mula mula sampai hostel,,,
Mlm tu dapat soalan bocor, kiranya ok la tu..
